If you're going to boot G.I. Joe, you might besides start with the coolest theatrical role. After 2009's The Rise Of Cobra and 2013's Retaliation, Snake Eyes jump-starts a new cinematic timeline with an descent story for the Boba Fett of the Joe-verse – the iconic ninja commando WHO had the prizewinning action figures and the pip parts in entirely the movies.

Famously scarred, disguised and silent, Snake Eyes steps out of the shadows for his own spin-off as Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians, Last Christmas) leaves the hallmark black helmet off to give us a new speaking assassinator with a retaliation-occupied backstory that ties into the comedian-book story of the Arashikage ninja clan.

"I was in two minds for sure," Golding tells Total Pic cartridge clip for the new emerge. "It's not a role to bring out softly. This is G.I. Joe's superlative-e'er character. To embody given the chance to revisit this character through a really fresh lens is a huge responsibility. In other G.I. Joe movies, Snake River Eyes has always been shrouded in whodunit, and then it's nice to be able to set IT entirely out in stone."

Oriented by Robert Schwentke (Red, the Divergent series), the film guesswork on location in Nihon to draw to a greater extent inspiration from classic samurai films than from Hollywood actioners – hoping to have a whole newfangled fantastic-franchise without superficial or feeling anything like one. Above, we have an exclusive recent look at Craps.

Snake in the grass Eyes arrives in United States cinemas happening 23 July and UK cinemas on 20 August. For more on the picture, check out the latest issue of Total Film – fronted by Loki – when it hits shelves and digital newsstands from Friday,  May 28
